#2 Variant revolution in simple words means a variant tournament that lasts for 24 hours (similar to what marathons are, but for variants), there were like 16 of them before, each for one of the 8 variants.
Speaking of OP questions, we can't know for sure, when lichess decides to create new big events like this. When revolutions do happen, lichess is probably going to announce it either in variant teams or in main page somewhere.
